Counselling Plymouth

Welcome! I am a qualified counsellor with many years of experience working with a diverse range of people. I specialise in Couple and Family work as well as long-term counselling with individuals.

If you just want someone who doesn't talk much and who is gentle and who only makes the right noises at the right time-I'm not your man.

I am very direct and I may have ideas which I may share with you because I think that they might help you find yours.

The bottom line is that Yours are the most important…

Your viewpoint and your insights about you, however hidden or vague they may feel at the moment, are the most important. Because you are your own expert and know yourself the best.

However when things are tricky or difficult, you may just find that you have temporarily misplaced the manual.

So if you come to me, it will be a bit like going to the hairdresser or barber as I can show you the back of your head … I can hold up that mirror because at the moment you can't see and in so doing I can give you a view that you may not have seen before or forgotten or even know is there, just like I may give you an idea that you may not have thought of.

I often describe coming to Counselling as like going up to your bedroom and opening up a very full wardrobe or going out to a very untidy tool shed both of which are stuffed full of all sorts of clothes or tools.

Meanwhile you are under pressure whether because you are trying to go out on a Saturday night or your partner is wanting you to do a bit of emergency DIY and you cannot find what you are looking for

Wouldn't it be better if instead of going to open those cupboard doors or shed door and saying  “Oh my God where is that dress I was going to wear.?”  Or “Where is the screwdriver I need …”

Wouldn’t it be so much better if you opened those cupboard doors or shed door and there were all your dresses or all your suits in colour-coded order and underneath the matching shoes or if a tool shed that your tools were all lined up and screwdrivers were with other screwdrivers etc. and you knew where to lay your hands on what you needed for the right  time/job

That's what I think Counselling with me can do, it can help you sort out yourself so that you can easily choose that dress, choose that hammer, get rid of those things you no longer need or that are broken or just worn out and instead keep all of the things that you like and are useful to you in your Life today.

And instead of taking ages, being really stressed, feeling overwhelmed at the task facing us, you can just choose the right dress or put your hands on the right tool, and get on confidently with your Life
