Yvonne | Body Psychotherapist
Psychotherapy Cheshunt
I am a qualified psychotherapist based in Cheshunt, Hertfordshire. I work with individual clients as well as with couples and relationships. I trained as a body psychotherapist and as a couple and relationship therapist.
The holistic approach of body psychotherapy recognises that our thoughts, emotions and sensations are intimately and deeply connected. Body psychotherapy offers a way to explore life's struggles, challenges and experiences with an increased sense of connection and wholeness, supporting you to access and develop a wider range of resources whilst promoting your general wellbeing.
Body Psychotherapy works with the person as a whole - mind, body and soul. We will talk sitting in chairs but there are also possibilities to work on the floor, on a mat or massage table, standing up or moving around. The work will depend on what feels helpful for you at that moment. Together we will explore what supports you to feel secure and grounded, to take your space, feel comfortable in your own skin, connect with the world around you and embody being who you are with fullness and ease.
Psychotherapy can help you to discover, understand and integrate your experience of your inner world, enabling you to develop a wider range of choices about how you relate to yourself, other people and the world around you.
If you would like to book an initial appointment or arrange a free of charge phone call to discuss what you are looking for and what I can offer please get in touch. I look forward to hearing from you.

Most common issues I support people with:
Exploring the mind and body connection, learning to 'listen' to the body by recognising how feelings and thoughts relate to subtle sensation and bodily felt sense and using this awareness to self-regulate more effectively in life.Understanding how past events and trauma influence our responses to current situations and developing newer and more resilient ways to process the challenges of life. Supporting the younger, wounded parts of ourselves to feel more safe, secure and confident in the world.
Developing a deeper, embodied, internal sense of trust in oneself. Creating a safe space in which to be with the deeply held, painful feelings of fear, anger or sadness which we have tried to defend ourselves against so that they can move through, bringing a sense of relief, peace and acceptance which in turn can promote feelings of pleasure and joy.
