Malak | Integrative Counsellor, Psychotherapist and Clinical Supervisor
Counselling and Psychotherapy Hendon - London
I am a qualified and experienced counsellor and psychotherapist. I help adults who are struggling in life despite trying to do everything right. I work with my clients to identify the cycles they may be caught in to make clear and positive changes in their lives. I’ve had the privilege of working with people from different walks of British life.
I hold a Post Graduate Diploma and a Masters degree in Integrative Counselling & Psychotherapy. I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and abide by their ethical framework. I am also an accredited member of NCPS and abide by their ethical framework. I’ve had the privilege of working with people from different walks of British life. As a woman with the experience of motherhood and various social roles in the past and present, I believe that wisdom is the fruit of life experience and knowledge that is much needed when in contact with human’s emotion and perception.
I immigrated to the UK in early 1994. I left my home country thirty years ago while I had started my Masters degree in English Literature. I went back to university in 2004 but this time in Counselling & Psychotherapy. I will never forget the very first time I attended this university. It felt like I was at home and ever since I constantly enjoyed my work and even after 18 years of working in this field, I still enjoy talking to and understanding my clients.
I have worked with many different people; from high flyers to refugees and asylum seekers. All have added to my knowledge and understanding as I believe human beings are as complex as they can be. I have been running my private practice since 2010. After the pandemic I started working at home and since then I have continued to see my clients online.
Online therapy
When I first started seeing my clients online at the start of pandemic, I was reluctant as I believed that nothing can match seeing clients face to face. After I started online sessions I noticed that it worked very well as we could see each other. The most important parts of body are shoulders, face and head plus moving hands. I could see all of them which helped me to notice of any change in their body, therefore, I decided to start working from home on Zoom and/or Skype. It has been more than 3 years since I started working remotely and both my clients and I have been happy with the results.Qualifications and registrations

- Borderline personality disorder
The number of my sessions varies based on individual client issues. Some will need only 6 sessions while others might need to see me over a year.
Most common issues I support people with:
- PTSD and CPTSD: I use EMDR to process unprocessed traumas. The result is brilliant as some clients say it's like a miracle. For CPTSD both talking and exploration and EMDR are needed.
- I work with attachment styles and it has been beneficial for my clients.
- Low self confidence & self esteem plus assertiveness.
- Depression: Those experiencing depression need to be understood and listened to. Understanding the client is the key element for their treatment.
- Loss and bereavement: I have helped people to have closure for the passed loved one/s. Therapy has helped them to release their emotions in a safe place and accept the death of their loved ones.
