Counselling Hythe - Dibden
I offer adaptive, person-centred counselling; meaning that I am led by your sense of how the therapy might best work for you. It can be short-term problem solving, or long-term, deep work, looking at what might drive symptoms of depression, anxiety or compulsion. This facilitates the understanding of self and experience.
My training and experience has informed a broad-minded, non-judgemental approach. I hope to provide an environment where you feel safe enough to explore yourself, gaining new perspectives and the ability to make sense of your own experience. At this point we see personal development that leads to deep change.
I have a particular interest in attachment theory and relationships, but have gained the majority of my experience working with survivors of trauma and abuse, at Options Wellbeing in Southampton.
I continue to study with Portsmouth University (Humanistic Counselling and Transactional Analysis) and am currently giving focus to burnout, existential therapy and dissociation (including compulsion/addiction). I attend monthly supervision and engage with regular courses.
Counselling will have an open-ended format, reviewing things every six sessions. It is beneficial for you to attend weekly initially. In the first instance, a 20 minute consultation will take place over the phone. If you then decide that I am the right fit for you, further sessions will be 50 minutes. The process will always take place at your pace.
