My name is Shilpa. I am a qualified person-centred counsellor registered with the BACP. I mainly practice online and offer individual therapy. You can choose to have weekly meetings or as and when you need. Some people would need open ended sessions and for others a few meetings would be enough. Clients reach out to me for various reasons such as to seek support with a particular difficult situation or a more long-term issue.
About the first meeting
The first meeting gives you the opportunity to understand how our work together is going to look like. You can experience my style of work and whether that feels comfortable and supportive. We can explore how many sessions you are looking for or may be leave it open ended. We can also discuss if weekly sessions would be suitable for you perhaps bimonthly or just a one-off session.
How does it work?
In our meetings we address what is happening now in your life as well as the past. I work simultaneously with the more apparent issue as well as deeper longstanding concerns. Working at your pace is very important to me. I believe in supporting you through the change you want for yourself. In the meetings we will have in-depth conversations where you feel heard, acknowledged, and validated.
You will find the meetings to be a compassionate and a non-judgmental space for you. This would enable you to be more authentic and express yourself freely. In addition, this will also allow you to believe in yourself and explore new possibilities. The conversations that we have will help us to understand a complete picture of what your experiences are and how they may have shaped you. We will be able to explore new ways of thinking and managing your situation. I will support you to acknowledge and process uncomfortable feelings and memories so that they do not keep you stuck in unhelpful patterns instead set you free to explore new ways of being.
Some clients like to have homework that they can work on during the week for others counselling is a space where they can share their experiences and make sense of their experiences.
People I have worked with reach out to therapy to seek support with issues at workplace, relationship issues, lack of confidence, low motivation, low mood, loss, bereavement, feeling of emptiness or difficult past experiences.
Online therapy
I offer online video sessions and telephone sessions. If you are looking specifically for face-to-face sessions and live near Milton Keynes, then please let me know. The online sessions can be via Zoom, FaceTime, or WhatsApp.

Fees
£50 per 50 minute session.
I do offer low cost sessions, please check with me if these slots are available. You can also choose to have up 6 sessions for £270
The payment is to be made 24 hours before the session. This can be done via bank transfer.
