David | Humanistic Integrative Counsellor

Counselling Finsbury Park - London

We are all unique and so are you, you may feel stuck, be struggling with sad feelings or depression, stress at work can leave you feeling anxious and relationships can become difficult and toxic.

I see you as the unique individual that you are, I want to offer you a space for yourself in which to consider life challenges in a non-judgemental and safe environment. A place for you where you can talk frankly and confidently without fear with someone that is truly listening and will be there supporting you through the process.

No matter what your worries are, or how scared or defeated you may feel I will be supporting you. I want to offer you a safe environment in which to explore without fear any issues, problems or challenges that are causing you mental or emotional distress.

I believe that when you are truly listened to in a confidential and non-judgemental way you can really work through the difficulties gaining an invaluable insight into yourself and helping you grow, making you more resilient and better able to overcome difficult and stressful situations or events.

Counselling is an opportunity for you to explore your thoughts and feelings with a therapist in a safe, supportive, and confidential setting. It can help you recognise your own resources, gain a better insight into things, and clarify thoughts and feelings.

Counselling can help you increasing your self-awareness reaching a deeper understanding about yourself that can help you enhance your relationships lifting your self-esteem and confidence. It can help you regain healthy coping strategies. As a result, it can help you having more fulfilling and meaningful relationships, not only with others but with yourself.

Counselling provides stability giving you a regular date and time for you to declutter yourself from the everyday white noise that is preventing you from paying attention to what really matters in your life, yourself. This can help you feel more in control of your decisions and your life.

You may be struggling with sleepless nights due to urgent worries, sometimes work can be incredibly stressful and relationships difficult and overwhelming. You may be feeling like you are losing your lust for life, as if you don’t enjoy the things you used to in the same way. You may be feeling sad and struggling with depression, the loss of a loved one, recently recovering from a breakup, or feeling stuck and not knowing how to carry on.

You may find yourself making the same mistakes over and over without even realising; counselling provides a safe space for you to explore situations and events with someone that will be supportive and will be with you through your journey.

Together we can explore what is going on for you and what is preventing you from building fulfilling and meaningful relationships. Counselling creates a relationship from which to focus in what really matters to you, helping you building the resources you need for the future.

Online therapy

Online therapy is as supportive and as impactful as face to face counselling and I offer online therapy using the platform Zoom which is quite reliable and easy to navigate for both, therapist and client.

In addition to online therapy, I also offer support via phone call. This way of supporting clients is slightly different as there is no visual feedback and it is slightly more dynamic and interactive than face to face or online formats.

Whether you would want to go for online or phone counselling, the frequency of the sessions and their duration is the same as face to face counselling.

Specialisations

Over the years I have supported clients getting through a range of life difficulties and challenges helping them feeling more confident in their own skin, finding their inner strengths and becoming more aware of some unhelpful behaviours that were preventing them from living fulfilling and meaningful lives. However, there are three areas that can become very challening to deal with and may be holding you back from getting through those challenges:

Low Mood, Sadness and Depression

Whether you are just feeling sad, or are experiencing low moods, are feeling a bit lonely or depressed, talking to someone in a safe and confidential environment can prove to be an invaluable support. You may be going through the motions experiencing a lack of confidence or low self-esteem, talking to a therapist may be just the support you need. Depression can be incredibly overwhelming and may make you feel hopeless or helpless. However, talking with a trained practitioner can help you getting through these difficulties.

Anxiety, Stress, Work-related Issues

Do you find yourself often worrying about most things? Some fast-paced working environments can be very stressful and trigger our anxious mind. Technology has increased the number of people struggling with anxiety and mental health, you may find yourself experiencing panic attacks due to job insecurity, financial worries, high levels of stress, bullying in the workplace or even discrimination. Sometimes, an unexpected event happens and it is difficult to calm yourself and gain control of your frightening thoughts. Counselling can help you manage your anxious feelings, calming your mind and manage your stress.

Relationships

Sometimes you may be finding difficult to engage with people or finding a long-term partner. You may find yourself engaging in toxic relationships time and time again. Could this be something you have learnt early in life? A difficult upbringing or any kind of abuse being this emotional, physical or sexual could have a devastating effect in your future relationships. Counselling could be the perfect space to explore these issues, family or other relational issues that are preventing you from having fulfilling relationships.

Relationships counselling can also be a good support if you are struggling with addictive behaviours, recreational drugs, gambling, internet addiction or porn addiction.

Most common issues I support people with:

  1. Anxiety (including work related, social, general, health, existential)
  2. Depression (including low mood, loss of lust and joy, general apathy and loss of interest)
  3. Relationship attachment issues (including romantic, family, friendships and work realtionships)
  4. Identity issues (including sense of self, gender identity, self-esteem, confidence, LGBTQ+)
  5. Life transitions and loss.
