Counselling Coulsdon
Counselling with me is a safe space to unburden yourself. I offer specialist support for issues relating to parenting, family life and family relationships, pregnancy, birth and other traumas, PND and depression.
I can support you through life's transitions, big and small. I'm particularly familiar professionally and personally with the challenges of parenting, birth, baby feeding, the struggle to adapt to new roles and the anxiety and overwhelm and constant doubt that often come with that. Perhaps you are aware that your mental health is suffering but you are struggling on? Or did you have a traumatic birth or other experience that keeps replaying and resurfacing? Or struggling with anxiety about a forthcoming birth? Or has old 'stuff', relationships, habits resurfaced which you now need some support to cope with? I provide an emotionally safe space for you to unburden yourself, for as long as you need.
Online therapy
I am very happy to work online.I use Zoom as I find it offers the most reliable service.
You do not need an account to use Zoom, it is completely free of charge for you, and you do not need any technical knowledge either.
Details relating to ZOOM confidentiality can be found here https://explore.zoom.us/en/privacy/
For online counselling uou must be in an area where you cannot be disturbed or overheard during your sessions, and you must not be driving or engaged in any other activity.
I will never record sessions and I ask that you don’t either, please.
If I am unable to reach you on Zoom, or if we experience technical difficulties, I will make another attempt via Zoom and then try calling you by phone. Therefore I will need a landline or mobile number please.

Specialisations and Expertises
I do not try to put an arbitrary limit on the number of sessions with me, as that is very individual, but many people start to find things a little easier after 6-8 sessions. Struggles with one-off traumatic events can often be lifted successfully in just 4 or 5 session. Some people find that their session with me each week is their 'safe haven', really look forward to having that time for themselves and attend every week for many months.People come to me for many reasons, including anxiety, stress, overwhelm, low mood, depression and post natal depression, work life balance concerns, partner, family and colleague conflicts, lack of self confidence or low self-esteem, help with dealing with traumatic experiences (including birth and breastfeeding related trauma), support after bereavement, baby loss, miscarriage, stillbirth and abortion) attachment concerns, parenting differences, single parenting, family relationship problems, concerns about bonding with your child(ren) or teenagers, empty nest concerns, problematic behaviours such as self harm and hair pulling, and lots lots more.
I have a particular interest in supporting women who have had a difficult or traumatic birth experience. Sadly I cannot rewind time and take away what has happened to you but I can help with specialist memory processing techniques to support you in getting to a place of greater safety where you can find a way to continue with your life without feeling overwhelmed by the accompanying terror and distress that remembering can trigger.
Finally, I think it's impemember that both people who have given birth AND people who have supported and watched can find themselves struggling afterwards.
Most common issues I support people with:
Birth trauma and birth-related PTSDPostnatal depression and anxiety
Attachment and bonding concerns
Parenting councselling - paretning difficulties and differences
Support after abortion, stillbirth, miscarriage, termination for medical reasons and failed fertility treatment
