Hi, I'm Elle. I specialise in bereavement and grief counselling. I also work with people with ADHD, fertility issues, depression, anxiety, recovering from alcohol and substance misuse, work related stress, and life transitions.
I am in the north east London region, with therapy rooms in Barkingside, Ilford Essex covering the areas of Ilford, Barkingside, Hainault, Romford, Buckhurst Hill Chigwell, Chingford, Grange Hill, Woodford, and Loughton as well as East London areas such as Leyton and Leytonstone.
Life brings many challenges, and it is understandable that at times we might look for support in facing them. As a counsellor my role is to provide space and guidance to help you on your journey of self-discovery; to enable you to examine your life and make new, meaningful choices within it.
I offer a chance to reflect on the difficulties or problems you are experiencing in a safe and confidential environment, with someone from outside your day-to-day life. Together we can explore your situation in a way that leads to fresh perspectives – and perhaps a new understanding of yourself, empowering you to make your own changes.
As an integrative counsellor I draw from several approaches to therapy to provide the counselling you need in an objective, safe, non-judgemental space. This space enables you to speak in confidence and feel heard and understood. Together we can then explore and reflect on what is distressing you and consider new perspectives. In doing so, you will be empowered to make changes through different choices. Counselling can be either short or long term basis dependent upon your needs.
Online therapy
I am available for online therapy via video. I use an encrypted video service through my case management system WriteUpp. Once a video session is agreed, you will receive by email and/or text message a link to the virtual therapy space. There is no need to download any programs or set up an account. A few minutes prior to your session, please click the link to be taken to the virtual therapy room where I will meet with you.Qualifications and registrations

Specialisations and Expertises
Bereavement
The death of a loved one, miscarriage, infant loss or the death of a beloved pet can be some of the most difficult life experiences to have. If you are struggling to cope, bereavement counselling can provide you the space to process your bereavement in a sensitive and meaningful way.
Grief & Loss
Grief is not only experienced when someone we love dies. Grief is also felt when we go through other types of loss such as the loss of a job, a relationship, a friend, even a way of life. When we lose something important to us, the feelings of grief are just as deep as the grief felt in a bereavement. Counselling can provide you the time and space to mourn your loss.
ADHD
I've supported people in the process of undertaking assessment for ADHD and those who are newly diagnosed. Counselling can help you understand your symptoms and diagnosis as well as support you in learning to manage and cope with ADHD. Please note: I am not qualified to assess, diagnose or prescribe medication. If you are seeking assessment, please contact your GP in the first instance to discuss being referred to a qualified professional who can fully assess you for ADHD.
Sessions last 50 minutes, usually taking place on a weekly basis. The number of sessions required can be agreed during the initial consultation. I usually recommend 6 sessions to start and then reviewing your progress and the work we do going forward.
Most common issues I support people with:
Other issues I’ve worked with include but are not limited to:-
Relationship Breakdown
It can be challenging to navigate the heartbreak and loss when a relationship comes to an end. Counselling can provide the space to process this loss and help navigate the grief you feel as you move forward in life.
Recovery from Alcohol and Substance Misuse
I have supported many clients recovering from alcohol and substance misuse. Recovery can mean being completely abstinent or learning moderation. I have worked with SMART Recovery and Moderation Management concepts to help clients navigate their journey of recovery. Please note: you will need to be sober/clean for at least 3-4 weeks before commencing counselling in order for the counselling to be effective.
Anxiety
Anxiety is a normal response to stressful situations. However, when anxiety becomes so pronounced that it keeps you from enjoying a happy, healthy life then it becomes a problem that needs to be addressed. I've worked with many clients experiencing anxiety and stress using a combination of mindfulness and cognitive behaviour therapy techniques to help manage and cope with anxiety.
Depression
Depression can come about for many reasons. It may come from a situation experienced such as a bereavement or loss. It may also stem from internalised matters such as self-esteem issues. Whatever the cause, depression can either be short lived and overcome or a severe and enduring mental health condition that needs life long management. Counselling can provide space to work through the difficult thoughts and feelings that encompass depression and find ways to manage and cope. Please note: if you have a severe and enduring mental health condition, you will need to be under a doctor's care before commencing counselling in order for the counselling to be fully beneficial.
If you have another matter you are seeking counselling for that I have not listed here, please get in touch to discuss your counselling needs to determine if I am the right therapist for you.
