Elle | Integrative Counsellor/Therapist

Counselling Ilford - North East London

Hi, I'm Elle!  Thank you for looking at my profile!

I specialise in working with adults 18 and older with ADHD.  Whether you're newly diagnosed or awaiting assesment, together we can work towards gaining insight and understanding of ADHD and its effect on you and empowering you in ways to effectively manage your symptoms.

Alternatively, you may only suspect you have ADHD. Together, we can explore your symptoms and if assessment is right for you.

Please note - I am not qualified to assess, diagnose or prescribe medication.  I do have training in these areas though and able to support you as you navigate those processes.

I also have specialty experience working with bereavement and grief, especially where the grief might be considered complex.  If you have experienced multiple losses within a short space of time, whether as a result of losing a loved one, or through another type of loss (loss of job, home, income, etc.) or despite the passage of time, the feelings of grief are long lasting and creating difficulty with moving forward in life, bereavement/grief counselling can provide the space to explore what has happened, reconstruct meaning in your life and find ways to integrate the experience of grief.

As your therapist,  I offer a chance to reflect on the challenges you are experiencing in a safe and confidential environment, with someone from outside your day-to-day life. Together we can explore your situation in a way that leads to fresh perspectives that empower you to find new and meaningful ways forward.

I have further experience on a range of other therapeutic issues, such as...

Fertility issues, miscarriage, depression, anxiety, work related stress, and life transitions

My therapy office is located in Barkingside, Ilford, Essex where I see clients from all over the North East London region - Ilford, Barkingside, Hainault, Romford, Buckhurst Hill Chigwell, Chingford, Grange Hill, Woodford, Loughton, Leyton and Leytonstone.

Online therapy

I am available for online therapy via video.  I use an encrypted video service through my case management system WriteUpp.  Once a video session is agreed, you will receive by email and/or text message a link to the virtual therapy space.  There is no need to download any programs or set up an account.  A few minutes prior to your session, please click the link to be taken to the virtual therapy room where I will meet with you.

Specialisations and Expertises

ADHD
I've supported people in the process of undertaking assessment for ADHD and those who are newly diagnosed.  Counselling can help you understand your symptoms and diagnosis as well as support you in learning to manage and cope with ADHD.  Please note: I am not qualified to assess, diagnose or prescribe medication.  If you are seeking assessment, please contact your GP in the first instance to discuss being referred to a qualified professional who can fully assess you for ADHD.

Bereavement

The death of a loved one, miscarriage, infant loss or the death of a beloved pet can be some of the most difficult life experiences to have. If you are struggling to cope, bereavement counselling can provide you the space to process your bereavement in a sensitive and meaningful way.

Grief & Loss

Grief is not only experienced when someone we love dies. Grief is also felt when we go through other types of loss such as the loss of a job, a relationship, a friend, even a way of life. When we lose something important to us, the feelings of grief are just as deep as the grief felt in a bereavement. Counselling can provide you the time and space to mourn your loss.

Most common issues I support people with:

Other issues I’ve worked with include but are not limited to:-

Anxiety
Anxiety is a normal response to stressful situations.  However, when anxiety becomes so pronounced that it keeps you from enjoying a happy, healthy life then it becomes a problem that needs to be addressed.  I've worked with many clients experiencing anxiety and stress using a combination of mindfulness and cognitive behaviour therapy techniques to help manage and cope with anxiety.

Depression
Depression can come about for many reasons.  It may come from a situation experienced such as a bereavement or loss.  It may also stem from internalised matters such as self-esteem issues.  Whatever the cause, depression can either be short lived and overcome or a severe and enduring mental health condition that needs life long management.  Counselling can provide space to work through the difficult thoughts and feelings that encompass depression and find ways to manage and cope.  Please note: if you have a severe and enduring mental health condition, you will need to be under a doctor's care before commencing counselling in order for the counselling to be fully beneficial.

If you have another matter you are seeking counselling for that I have not listed here, please get in touch to discuss your counselling needs to determine if I am the right therapist for you.
