Teresa | Qualified Person Centred Counsellor

Counselling Old Trafford - Manchester

I am an experienced, qualified counsellor, working with adults and young people in Trafford, South Manchester. My area of provision includes supporting adults with issues ranging from anxiety, stress, grief, depression, narcissistic behaviours of others and self-worth issues, low self-esteem, isolation, worry, identity loss, and family or relationship issues, including my specialism in men's mental health and well-being.

I provide a confidential, safe space for you to talk and explore your emotions and feelings, which may sometimes feel confusing and difficult to understand; exploring how you think and behave can bring about positive change and empower you to live your best life.

I am a fully qualified, BACP registered member, and fully insured. I will ensure that you are protected and safe, and you can be confident that all sessions are confidential. I work within an ethical framework. I provide a structured, professional therapy service that you can rely on.

Face-to-face and online sessions

I offer face-to-face sessions or online appointments to suit your needs and offer a free 20-minute conversation by either telephone or Zoom to talk through your requirements beforehand. I have a counselling room in Trafford M16, which also has disabled access and facilities with on-site parking and easy reach of a main tram line. This allows me to be flexible in how your therapy is arranged, which may be once a week, fortnightly, or a mixture of both online and face-to-face. My therapy service can be arranged around your life, so we can discuss what you need during the introductory call.

I understand that finding the right counsellor can be daunting, so the first step is to send me a message. I can answer any questions you may have before we arrange any appointments.

My background

I have worked as a voluntary counsellor within the private sector, supporting adults with issues ranging from anxiety, stress, grief, depression, narcissistic behaviours of others and self-worth issues. I have experience working with young people within a council-based drop-in centre, providing counselling for 16 years + teenagers on an individual and group basis.

In my career within education, I have communicated with many people at all levels, ensuring confidentiality, safeguarding, and privacy. Empathy and listening skills have always been a high priority for everyone, which I will continuously demonstrate to you.

How I work

I am a fully qualified person-centred counsellor and offer an initial free-of-charge consultation without commitment online or by telephone. I work with clients on a private 1:1 basis and work by a firm ethical code of practice as set out by my accrediting body of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapy (BACP), of which I am an individual member and frequently attend continuing professional development courses and workshops to enable me to be more knowledgeable in my areas of counselling.

As a counsellor, my passion for this profession is deeply rooted in its transformative impact on clients and me.

I can give you the vision that Change is possible. I’ve experienced it firsthand. Change begins in the therapeutic relationship with trust, empathy, and collaboration.

Similarly, establishing a relationship, putting my trust in the client, and witnessing their transformation is a privilege I hold dear.

If you’re seeking support, know that I’m here to listen, guide, and walk alongside you on your unique journey.

In summary, I am a believer that being a counsellor isn’t just a profession; it’s a calling, a chance to make a difference in people’s lives, one session at a time.

Online therapy

Rest assured, I also provide online sessions. These operate in a similar manner to my in-person sessions. I typically utilize reliable platforms such as Google Meet or Zoom, ensuring a secure and uninterrupted session. Each session lasts for 50 minutes.

My counselling agreement contains guidelines regarding what would happen if we were disconnected. Still, as long as you have a quiet, safe space to conduct your sessions, we can work together online.

Online sessions can give you more flexibility because you do not have to travel to and from sessions. However, providing some self-care around sessions is essential to allow you to process the session, have time for yourself after your sessions, and go back to 'everyday life,' which is critical to allow your emotional growth.

Specialisations

My area of provision includes supporting adults with issues ranging from anxiety, bereavement, stress, grief, depression, self-esteem, narcissistic behaviours of others and self-worth issues, including my specialism in men's mental health and well-being.

I will provide a safe space to support you in regaining your belief in yourself, help you deal with life's challenging predicaments, and further aid you in discovering the confidence to make meaningful changes from within as you are the expert on you.

We will always work together at your own pace, allowing you to explore what is bothering you and gently uncover deep-rooted issues. This way, you can work out what you require to empower yourself, create space to reunite your thoughts and find new coping methods.

Talking matters and being listened to is vital to personal growth. Being heard is the most powerful gift one can share.

Most common issues I support people with:

I might be the right counsellor for you if you want to:

  • Share your thoughts and feelings openly without someone telling you what they think you should do.
  • Have a safe space where someone tries their best to understand things from your perspective and gently brings things to your attention so that you can explore some aspects in greater depth.
  • Be able to be honest, laugh and grow without judgement.

I often work with people who are feeling:

  • Stuck
  • As though their relationships follow repeating patterns.
  • Who cannot pinpoint exactly how/what they are feeling?
  • They have difficulty voicing what they want or need from others or in life.
  • People who are recovering from toxic, neglectful or abusive relationships.
  • Dealing with the loss of somebody very close.
  • Question: who they are.
  • Loss of self-worth and low esteem.
  • Traumatic childhood experiences
  • Feeling 'lost' in the world and wanting to regrow.

Feel free to contact me for a FREE 20-minute Zoom session. This will allow me to answer any further questions and help you choose the right counsellor for you. You are the expert on yourself, and choosing the right counsellor is vital to your new emotional journey.
