Brigitta | Person-Centred Counsellor and Psychotherapist

Psychotherapy and Counselling Southampton

Hello, my name is Brigitta, and I am a person-centered therapist. I believe that each person has the potential to grow and develop in their own unique way, and my role as a therapist is to create a safe, supportive space for my clients to explore their inner experiences and discover their own path to healing and growth.

In my practice, I strive to provide a non-judgmental and empathic environment where my clients can feel comfortable expressing themselves and being vulnerable. I believe that the therapeutic relationship is the foundation for change, and I work collaboratively with my clients to understand their needs and goals, and to develop a personalized approach to therapy that best fits their individual needs.

I value the importance of active listening and reflection, and I encourage my clients to explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences at their own pace. Through this process, I aim to help my clients develop a greater sense of self-awareness, self-acceptance, and self-compassion, which can ultimately lead to more fulfilling and meaningful lives.

Online therapy

At my practice, I offer online therapy sessions through Zoom and telephone counselling, providing a safe and supportive space for clients to explore their inner experiences from the comfort of their own homes.ㅤ

When clients schedule an appointment, I send them an email with instructions on how to join the Zoom call or arrange for a telephone session. Prior to our first session, I will also send a consent form for clients to sign, outlining the terms of our counselling relationship.ㅤ

During our Zoom sessions, I use video conferencing to create an environment that is as close as possible to an in-person session. ㅤ

In addition to Zoom counselling, I also offer telephone counselling for clients who may prefer this method. During our telephone sessions, I provide the same level of care and support as I would during an in-person, helping clients to explore their inner experiences and develop strategies for positive change.

Specialisations

While my approach is adaptable to many different types of issues and concerns, I have particular experience in working with clients who struggle with anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship issues.

I also have experience in working with clients who have experienced grief and loss, life transitions, domestic and sexual abuse, and self-esteem issues.
In terms of the expected number of sessions needed, this can vary depending on the individual needs and goals of each client. Some clients may see significant improvements after just a few sessions, while others may benefit from longer-term therapy.

In general, I work collaboratively with clients to develop a personalized treatment plan that is tailored to their unique needs and goals, and we will review progress together to determine the optimal length of therapy.

Most common issues I support people with:

1. Domestic and Sexual Abuse: Many of my clients have experienced domestic and sexual abuse, I work collaboratively with clients to develop personalized treatment plans that take into account their unique needs and goals, and I prioritize their safety and well-being at all times.ㅤ
2. Depression: Depression can be a debilitating and isolating experience, and my goal as a therapist is to provide clients with the tools and support, they need to manage their symptoms and regain a sense of hope and purpose in their lives. I help clients explore their emotions and experiences and refine practical coping strategies to improve their overall mental health.ㅤ
3. Anxiety: Anxiety can be a pervasive and overwhelming experience, and I work with clients to help them better understand the root causes of their anxiety and develop strategies for managing their symptoms. ㅤ
4. Bereavement: The loss of a loved one can be one of the most challenging experiences a person can face. In my practice, I provide compassionate support and guidance to clients as they navigate the grieving process, whether they struggling with complicated grief, unresolved issues or simply need someone to listen.ㅤ
5. Trauma: Trauma can have a profound and lasting impact on a person's mental health, and I have experience working with clients who have experienced a wide range of traumatic events. I use trauma-focused approaches to help clients process their emotions and memories and develop practical strategies for managing symptoms such as flashbacks, anxiety, and avoidance.

Fees

My fees for each session are typically £50, but I offer a sliding scale based on my clients' financial situations. This means that the cost per session may range from £45 to £55.
