Specialisations
My approach is humanistic and built on the psychotherapeutic foundation of Transactional Analysis. With a focus on communication, my approach enables clients to form deeper connections with themselves and others. I work with clients to understand their past experiences and how they affect them currently, helping them gain insight and understanding of their feelings and concerns. I have a background in Applied Psychology and often weave neurobiological understanding into client work to offer a ‘whole health’ understanding of what is going on for you and bring clarity and focus.
Recognising that every individual is unique, I tailor my approach to the specific needs of my clients, whether it be short-term crisis intervention or a longer-term therapy plan. I don't want you to be here a moment longer than you feel you need to be, therapy is a significant investment financially, emotionally and in terms of time too. My approach is always to work towards achieving your goals, whatever they may look like. We will review our work regularly and where we are on the path to completing your goals to ensure you remain in control and at the centre of the process.
Most common issues I support people with:
I possess a wide range of expertise in treating issues that include low self-esteem and loss of confidence, relationship and family issues, loss and bereavement, adjusting to retirement, sexual and domestic abuse, career and management burnout, high pressure c-suite roles, shame, sexuality, and gender issues.
I have a particular interest in Men's Psychology and how current societal pressures, expectations and social narrative around men can make life particularly difficult at times. Men face a unique set of challenges and I feel very strongly that men, like women, deserve a space in which they can be honest and open up about the impact of this on their wellbeing, and psychological and relational health without fear of judgement or recrimination.
I also have lived experience of the unique experience of being educated at boarding school, and I work with the unique issues that may present themselves in later life as a result of this often challenging, but not always unenjoyable childhood experience.
My goal is to provide the confidential environment that you need to process the challenges and difficulties that modern life brings and find a clear and satisfying way forward for you.
