Bev | Therapeutic Counsellor

Therapeutic Counselling Lustleigh - Devon

Hello, my name is Bev, and I welcome you to my page. I offer counselling services for individuals and couples. In a secure and confidential setting, your voice will be heard, and you will be valued for who you truly are. My aim is to provide comfort and ease. As a Person-Centred Counsellor, I embrace humanistic principles, concentrating on your personal development and self-discovery. By getting to know you and grasping your challenges, I can offer considerate support throughout your journey.

I believe that effective therapy lies in establishing a trust-based professional relationship, as it forms the foundation of the therapeutic setting. I embrace diversity and offer kindness, patience, compassion, and reassurance to make certain that you feel fully valued.

I will give you the space to talk openly and I will listen and support you to reflect on your thoughts, feelings and emotions. We experience stress and anxiety not only mentally but also physically and I will help you to develop a deeper sense of awareness, noticing the connection between your mental state and physical reactions.Stress manifests in various forms and by exploring the underlying causes and addressing any unresolved issues, I can help you process emotions that may have been suppressed due to past traumas.

Additionally, stress, worries, anxiety's and trauma can compromise our immune system, leading to issues like sleep disturbances, headaches, illness, digestive troubles, and various types of joint pain. Through our work together and a range of strategies, I can teach you new coping skills, enabling you to manage your stress and anxiety more effectively.

Ongoing negative thoughts can echo in your mind, draining your energy and leading to fatigue. This can make it difficult to stay focused and concentrate on new tasks, leading to attempts to control situations and people as a means of managing anxiety. As a result, you may feel caught in a cycle of distress, unable to enjoy life's simple pleasures. This can begin to adversely affect your daily life, relationships, work, and those around you. I am here to offer gentle support.

From my experience, various events can provoke emotional reactions that may be stressful and alarming. Talking about your thoughts, emotions, and actions can help in processing and understanding these events. Acknowledging these experiences will deepen your self-awareness and insight, empowering you to take greater control over your life and make positive changes.

Online therapy

I offer online counselling through Zoom, but I'm happy to use other platforms such as Teams, Whereby etc. If you prefer I also offer telephone counselling.
