Andrea | Specialist Relationship Therapist & Coach

Therapy and Coaching Esher - Surrey

Welcome to relationship results under one roof. I am a BACP Accredited, and Internationally Certified, Individual, Couple & Family Therapist, and Love & Life Breakthrough Coach. I have specialised in relationships for the last 15 years, worked with hundreds of couples, delivered thousands of counselling hours, in 12 countries. I am passionate about restoring harmony in your heart and your home, so that you can live a life you love. My hope is to empower you to flourish as an individual, as a couple and a family.

In addition to offering sessions at The Health Village Esher I also offer home visits in the vicinity of Ottershaw, Surrey KT16, for example to Addlestone, Weybridge, Walton-on-Thames, Shepperton, Cobham, Chertsey, Virginia Water, Egham, Sunningdale, Chobham, Woking, Pyrford or Byfleet.

As well as being Accredited by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, (BACP) I am also Certified by the International Centre for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for Individual Therapy (EFIT), Couple Therapy (EFCT) and Family Therapy (EFFT). This modality has long been proven to have one of the highest success rates for sustained outcomes in working with relationships of all kinds.

I also work with individuals who are dating and would like to meet the right person, as well as those who are considering separation, getting divorced, or recovering from a break up. I can help you in your relationship with yourself and others by breaking unhealthy patterns in your own behaviour and getting free from anxiety and depression, to live as the best version of yourself.

In addition to the above training I have completed a year's specialist Couple Therapy programme at The Couples Institute on Attachment, Differentiation and Neuroscience. I am trained as well to Level 2 in The Gottman Method. I am also a qualified Facilitator for the the SYMBIS Premarital Counselling, the Gottman 'Bringing Baby Home' programme, and the Gottman course 'The Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work'.

For those couples where one is leaning in and one is leaning out of the relationship, I am trained to offer Discernment Counselling, an alternative option to Couple Therapy. This involves 1-5 individual sessions with each partner to explore how the relationship reached this point. The goal of this process is to establish at the end of this short process whether or not Couple Therapy could be a helpful way forward.

I have dedicated my career to becoming a love expert, to help clients like you. I first qualified in Psychodynamic Counselling in 1995, and went on to hold the position of Addiction Treatment Programme Manager at a Priory Hospital. This first sparked my interest in the significance of attachment, and led to my decision to specialise in relationships. I began to see how our wellbeing completely centres around our relationship with ourselves and our relationships with others.

After training in Couple Therapy in 2012, I have since worked for Marriage Care, Relate, and KlearMinds, a private London Clinic. It would be my privilege and my passion to seek to make your relationships the best that they can be, with yourself, with your partner and with your family. I will come alongside you with positivity, sensitivity and compassion, without judgement or agenda.

You are welcome to reach out to me for a free 15 minute telephone or video conversation, and you will be met with TLC at my Clinic.

Online therapy

Online therapy offers the opportunity for more flexible scheduling, and the positive outcomes of online therapy are no different to face to face.  This can also be supplemented with home visits.

This way of connecting too can make counselling more convenient, as you don't have to commute to sessions.

I offer online therapy using Zoom or Skype. Alternatively we can connect using WhatsApp video if the other options are not possible for any reason.

I also offer online therapy for couples, and adolescent or adult families, even if you are on different devices.

I offer therapy in

Specialisations

For Individuals:

Relationship distress, uncertainty about your future with your partner, seeking clarity on how to manage your relational situation, recovery from separation or divorce, how to start dating again and meet the right person or how to be the best version of yourself in your partnership.

For Couples:

Commitment coaching, pre-marital counselling, communication issues, escalating conflict, anger managment, domestic abuse, iheightened distress, increasing distance, emotional disconnection, relational loneliness, perceived incompatability re parenting styles, the loss of the romantic spark, lack of sexual intimacy, discrepancy in sexual desire, recovery from an affair, healing from a betrayal wound, uncertainy about staying together, separation, relationship breakdown, and discernment counselling where one partner is leaning in and one is leaning out of the relationship.

Parent coaching is also offered to couples seeking to be more of a team in their child raising challenges, to help them break through to new levels of emotional connection with their children.

For Families:

The Family Therapy service is offered for family members aged 13 upwards. After an initial family assessment the sessions are held between the most troubled dyads. This process would potentially include parent coaching, which focuses on strengthening the bond between parents and children. Emotional intelligence has been found to be a stronger determinant of child success later in life than their IQ, and parents are their greatest influence on their emotional development.

Approach

I am passionate about creating a culture of TLC, to transform your distress into success.  Whether you are stuck in your own situation, in your romantic relationship or in your dynamic with family members, we will sensitively and compassionately identify the negative cycle and begin to de-escalate it. We will then follow a roadmap of addressing the underlying causes, repairing ruptures and re-connecting with different parts of yourself or with others, to help you to come home to harmony and happiness in your heart.

Most common issues I support people with:

1. Increasing distress or distance in your relationship - maybe you are experiencing rising conflict, escalating arguments and bringing the worst out in each other, no longer feeling that you can get through to your partner, feeling disrespected, unloved and unimportant.  Or maybe there is greater incidence of silence and tension between you, and instead of you feeling understood or appreciated, you are feeling overwhelmed, criticised, judged, attacked and suffocated.

2. Lack of emotional connection - you may feel like you are growing further and further apart, focusing on developing your separate lives, unable to connect emotionally and be as close as you were. This is usually typified by the sense, as in the two examples above, that 'we just can't connect or  communicate anymore'. Or you may be wondering if your partner is a narcissist and whether you are ever going to get your needs met in this relationship.

3. Lack of sexual intimacy - your physical relationship may have become less exciting, less fulfilling, or maybe not be happening at all, maybe there is a discrepancy in your respective sexual desires or a total lack of interest from one partner. You may be having feelings for another person.

4. Relationship crisis - you may have discovered your partner has been having an affair, or you may be having one yourself. Or maybe you can't get past the past, as you are stuck in an injuring event that felt like a betrayal. Or maybe you have got to that point where you are thinking 'I am just not sure I can stay in this unhappy relationship any longer', and your partner just does not understand the seriousness of this for you.

5. Recovery from separation or divorce/ Starting over - you may be at the point where you are wanting to heal from the past, make sense of how you ended up here and look forward. It can feel a daunting prospect to embark on another relationship. You may wish to explore how you can stay strong as the best version of yourself now and ensure a better outcome this time, or you might be questioning whether this is the best relationship for you. Or maybe you have not been in a relationship for a while and you are wondering if you will ever meet the right person...

Whatever your relationship challenge, it would be my privilege to come alongside you with Tender Loving Care and help you to get unstuck, to go from distress to success.
