Shivon | Integrative Counsellor/Therapist

Counselling Enfield - Greater London

Hello and welcome.

My practice is about helping you to rediscover, focus and invest in you!

Are you struggling right now? Taking the time to make changes to your life is not easy, however, you will not be on your own and  have taken a brave step by taking the time to reach out for support.

I am a qualified Integrative Counsellor/Therapist and infant and subsequent loss practitioner working in private practice. I work with young people, adults and older adults from diverse backgrounds and who are experiencing a wide range of concerns including anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and loss, relationship problems, addictions and offending behaviours and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).

In addition to my therapeutic practice, I work for an organisation in the city of London and specialise in working with  pregnancy - planned and unplanned, miscarriage and infant loss, antenatal and post-natal depression, fertility (assisted conception), relationships, early years and parenting issues. My specialism includes working with neurodiversity in particular ADHD and co-existing disorders (dyslexia, dyspraxia Asperger Syndrome).  I am qualified to post-graduate level in this area.

I have over 13 years’ experience working for the NHS and private healthcare sectors within patient experience, safety, engagement, advocacy, coaching and mentoring.  This involves working with young people, adults and older adults within mental health and acute hospitals and commissioning settings (CAMHS, personality disorders, cognitive impairment and sexual health services).   Helping people and their family to voice their concerns and supporting them to obtain the appropriate physical, emotional and mental health clinical care and treatment.

What can you expect

I am passionate about supporting people and will always create a warm, friendly, professional, safe, confidential, and non-judgmental space for you to feel at ease to sit and talk through your difficulties at your own pace.  This will allow us to explore in the session what has brought you to therapy and how I can help you.

For some people, life can feel like an emotional rollercoaster which affects not only the mind but the body.  As a consequence, you may be left feeling detached from your sense of self and relationships, experiencing triggers or unhelpful thoughts.

Everyone is unique - one size certainly does not fit all and we will work together to obtain a deeper understanding of your concerns and what works for you.  You may also have an immediate concern that you would like to be addresed and we will explolre this together to help you to move forwards.

My theoretical approach is humanistic and integrative and I will draw on Psychodynamic, Behavioural Therapies, Solution Focused Brief Therapy and Transactional Analysis within my practice.

When words are not enough, I can work from a creative and holistic approach (such as mindfulness, sandplay therapy). However, I would like to reassure you that I will always work in collaboration with you to decide what is the best approach that is appropriate for you and your personal situation.  This will help us to navigate and explore what is important to you, help you to heal and accomplish your goals.

There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you.
Maya Angelou, "I know why the caged bird sings"

I am experienced at working with resistance and those who are feeling stuck and do not know where to start to tell their story. Facing your fears and connecting with what is happening in your life can be a scary experience. Sometimes it can be easier to be kind to others than ourselves. and being compassionate and gentle to yourself and investing in your health is a big step.

I will support you on your journey of reflection to grow and flourish by helping you to work through these difficulties and recognise your strengths. By exploring different therapeutic interventions (techniques and strategies) during and outside of our sessions this will aid you to gain clarity, acceptance, self-awareness and help to improve your overall wellbeing.

Some of the difficulties I help clients with:

Are you feeling anxious, low in mood, experiencing sleepless nights and would like to control those unhelpful thoughts?

  • Would you like to set healthy boundaries and are not sure which way to turn?
  • Do you feel unheard and that you are being judged by other people?
  • Are you struggling to cope and make sense of what is going on for you?
  • Do you want to discuss a diagnosis e.g.  ADHD, cancer, dementia,  fertility?
  • Are you trying to come to terms with the loss of your identity, relative, job, relationship, financial loss, memory loss, divorce, and separation?
  • Are you struggling to conceive, connect with your pregnancy or bond with your baby?
  • Are you estranged from your family?
  • Do you find it difficult to make new friends and feel isolated?
  • Are you experiencing flashbacks from the trauma that you have experienced?
  • Do have a phobia or addiction?

I will work in your best interests at all times and at the end of our work together, I provide a wellness/wellbeing support pack which will assist you as you continue your journey outside of our sessions.

How do I get in touch

I completely understand that it is important to find a therapist that you are able to build a good rapport with and that they are able to experienced and qualified to work with the difficulties that you are experiencing.

The initial consultation (20 minute non-obligatory telephone or video call) is an opportunity for you explore what you would like from therapy and if you feel comfortable working with me, we will agree an initial number of sessions to start with and take it from there.

I work with clients short and long-term and face-to-face, online and on the telephone. Sessions are normally 50 minutes and we can discuss the frequency and timing of our sessions. However, I will always try to accommodate as best as I can.

My consulting room is well located in the town centre and is easily accessible from Liverpool Street, Haringey, Southgate, Barnet, Cheshunt and Chingford. It is close to Palace Gardens Shopping Centre and a short walking distance from Enfield Town and Enfield Chase Train Stations.

The nearest tube station is Oakwood and there are several bus stops nearby. I also offer online (secure video platform 'zoom' and 'whereby') and telephone sessions to clients across the UK.

If you are interested in working together, please get in touch. I always aim to respond to all enquiries within 24 hours.

Online therapy

I offer online therapy via 'Zoom' video platforms which are both secure.  I will send you an invite before our session once it has been confirmed.

'Whereby' is an alternative secure video platform.  It is very easy to use if you are not used to online video platforms.  A single meeting link is sent via email or mobile and does not need to be downloaded onto your laptop, tablet or mobile phone.
