Debbie | Counsellor

Online Counselling Carmarthen - Wales

Hello and welcome to my profile. I am an experienced BACP Accredited counsellor with an MSc in Counselling and Psychotherapy. I am passionate about working with people and with my background in nursing I have spent the past 30 years doing just that. I offer counselling online and via telephone.
I work from a person-centred perspective, incorporating other modalities such as CBT when they feel right for the client. I believe that the therapeutic relationship is as important as the therapist's modality, We can work together to explore any issues/worries that you have and find coping strategies that work for you.

I am also a Traumatic Birth Recovery (TBR) 3 Step rewind Practitioner, supporting parents recovering from perinatal and birth trauma.  I am passionate about perinatal mental well being and work with clients experiencing perinatal anxiety, depression, birth trauma and pregnancy loss.

Counselling offers you a safe and confidential environment to address whatever may be troubling you and I will work alongside you to help you make sense of how you are feeling and to help you get back to feeling like yourself.

I have experience of working with young adults in a University Counselling Service setting and I offer a reduced rate for those aged 18-22 in full time education. Areas I deal with include anxiety, depression, bereavement, miscarriage, pregnancy loss, termination for abnormality, traumatic birth experiences, work related stress, pregnancy depression and anxiety, postnatal depression and anxiety.

It can help to talk with someone who is impartial and outside of your family/friendship groups. I work mainly from a person-centred approach, being alongside you in a supportive and non-judgemental way as you explore your issues.

Because  it's important to find the right counsellor for you, please feel free to arrange an initial 15 minute phone/Zoom call so we can 'meet' and see if working together is the way forward for you. I look forward to hearing from you.
Debbie

I offer therapy in

Specialisations

  • 6. Pre and postnatal anxiety
  • 7. Bereavement

Most common issues I support people with:

  • Anxiety; I work with clients experiencing  sudden onset or longer term anxiety, exploring coping strategies and addressing underlying issues.

  • Depression; depression happens along a scale from mild to severe, we can explore the cause of your depression and find ways to improve your over all mood.

  • Pre and Postnatal depression and anxiety; Perinatal mental well being encompasses your journey from fertility to post birth, I work with mums especially to address any issues arising during this time.

  • Birth Trauma; everyone's delivery experience is unique and a birth needn't be medically defined as traumatic for someone to feel traumatised by events that happen during the birth. I can work with you using the Traumatic Birth Recovery Rewind Technique to address birth and perinatal trauma.

  • Bereavement, including pregnancy loss; I have many years of experience working with clients who have been bereaved, including those who have lost a baby before or after birth. I am passionate about holding space for grief, especially as society  has a tendency to medicalise or sanitise people's grief experiences .
